To all fellow artists,
If you receive a message by ‘Robert Power’ wanting to buy your art, it’s a scam – or at least I’m 99% certain. I know a few of us already received messages by him. He sends two messages using a title of two of your paintings/prints/sculptures/etc so it LOOKS serious. But I guess these scammers are realizing, that these things no longer work if the message is totally anonymous and obviously automated.
The first message simply says: “Do you still have this item for sale?” You’ll receive two of these mentioning four different works. If you reply you’ll get a response that is clearly automated. It does not include your original message and it asks for your information – to accept a check… Tell tale signs of an internet scam.
The second email says:

Your Quick Response
As you can see, you’re about to give away your name, address and phone number. Don’t do it! If you absolutely want to follow it up, hand it off to your gallery. If it is legit, they have earned the commission they get for providing a service to get secure payments! But they will know how to handle payments and interactions like this.
